Rameau

Les Indes Galantes

Released March 26, 2021

With the creation of his masterpiece Les Indes galantes in 1735, Jean-Philippe Rameau renewed the genre of opera-ballet with the presentation of separate independent tableaux, to include a series of love stories involving exotic peoples, treated in various manners.

The vocal cast makes splendid use of the evocative powers of the French language, at the heart of an orchestra at the service of Rameau’s music, whose colors shimmer thanks to Valentin Tournet.

Officina Romana

A Wonder Lab at the Dawn of the 18th Century

Released March 26, 2021

In the early eighteenth century, Rome was one of the great music capitals of Europe. In the space of a few years, Corelli, Handel, Alessandro and Domenico Scarlatti, Caldara, Cesarini and many others crossed paths there, surrounded by painters, sculptors, poets and philosophers who were among the great names of the age. The fruit of long reflection and research, ‘Officina Romana’ crystallizes this unique moment in the history of music by recreating an idealized musical evening, a conversazione, a sort of liberal meeting of lofty minds in the palace of a Roman cardinal, with a program mingling vocal and instrumental music in both orchestral and chamber formation.

The Colourful Telemann

with Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra

The Colourful Telemann presents works from different periods of Georg Philipp Telemann’s life, reflecting his lively personality and exploring his seemingly unlimited invention over a wide variety of styles and genres. A contemporary of Bach and Handel, Telemann wrote music that stands out for its delightful and remarkably generous character, each piece like a leisurely walk with a good friend. From the German and French influences of the earlier Sonata to the dignified Sinfonia Melodica, possibly composed in the year of his death, this is Telemann at his best.
